Mass Weapons Brawl Sparks Police Stop-and-Search Crackdown in Slough

Police scrambled to a major public order incident involving up to 20 men armed with weapons in Frank Sutton Way, Farnham Road, and Buckingham Avenue around 6pm. The chaos has forced police to impose tough new powers across key Slough areas to stamp out violence.

Section 60 Order Rolled Out Across Slough Hotspots

The order covers a wide area including Manor Park, Slough Trading Estate, and Lynch Hill. The official boundaries run along Cumberland Avenue, Northern Road, Stoke Poges Lane, A4 Bath Road, Burnham Lane, Lower Britwell Road junction with Long Furlong Drive, Long Readings Lane, and Northborough Road.

Starting at 9pm, the Section 60 order gives cops the green light to stop and search anyone in these locations – with or without suspicion. It will remain in effect until midday on Monday (16/11) and could be extended if necessary.

Inspector Braddy Warns Violence Won’t Be Tolerated

“A Section 60 order has been authorised following this public order incident, during which weapons were involved,” said Inspector John Braddy from Slough police station.

“Under this order, our officers have greater powers to prevent serious violence. We never take these decisions lightly. “While this may cause concern locally, the order is to stop any repeat incidents. You’ll see more officers in the area during this time. “If you’re stopped by police, don’t be alarmed – it doesn’t mean you’re in trouble. Feel free to ask officers any questions; they’re here to keep you safe.”

What You Need to Know About Section 60 Stop-and-Search

Section 60 allows officers to stop and search people without needing reasonable grounds, but only within a set area and timeframe. These powers aim to tackle rising street violence swiftly.
