Woman, 57, targeted in Ollerton bag snatch
A 57-year-old woman was attacked on Walesby Lane, Ollerton, when a man suddenly grabbed her handbag from behind around 6.30pm on Wednesday, 12 April.
Man flees in car after snatch
The suspect, spotted wearing flipflops, yanked the bag hard enough to force it from her grip. He then raced towards Gattlys Lane, jumped into a waiting car and sped off.
Police swoop and arrest suspect
Thanks to swift detective work, officers tracked down a 32-year-old man matching the robber’s description soon after the incident. He was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
The stolen handbag – with all contents inside – was recovered and returned to the victim, who suffered minor injuries.
Police warn robbers: We’re watching you
Detective Sergeant Andrea Brown of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Thanks to the tenacity of our officers, we were able to quickly locate and arrest a suspect following this incident.
“The victim understandably felt very distressed by what happened.
“There is no excuse for robbery – a horrible crime with lasting effects. We won’t tolerate this behaviour and will investigate every report thoroughly.”
