Elderly Man’s Cash Stolen After Bank Visit
A man in his seventies had just withdrawn several thousand pounds from his bank to treat his kids after beating a serious illness. But his plans were wrecked when a thief snatched the cash right outside the branch.
Thief Strikes Outside Barclays in Moortown
The victim visited the Barclays branch on Harrogate Road, Moortown, around 12:20pm on Friday, April 14. After collecting the money, he returned to his car and placed envelopes stuffed with cash on the passenger seat while putting away his walking stick.
As he settled into the driver’s seat, a suspect suddenly flung open the passenger door and grabbed the cash before speeding away in a car.
Suspect Caught on CCTV – Can You Help?
CCTV footage revealed the suspect was inside the branch as the money was withdrawn. Described as white with a stocky build and stubble, he wore a grey jumper, black joggers, black trainers, and a grey baseball cap. Witnesses said he spoke with an Irish accent.
