Road Rage Rampage on A272: Van Driver Smashes Car with Scaffolding Pole

Police are hunting a furious van driver after a violent road rage attack on the A272 near West Meon. The incident erupted just after 4.30pm on Wednesday, December 14, on the westbound carriageway between Langrish and West Meon.

Van driver attacks Astra driver with metal pole

The victim, a 46-year-old man, was driving his silver Vauxhall Astra when a white Ford Transit van started tailgating him closely. The van then overtook and forced the Astra to stop. Both drivers got out, but the van driver launched an assault on the Astra driver.

He then grabbed a metal scaffolding pole from his van and used it to smash the Astra’s window and wing mirror in a shocking act of vandalism.

Police appeal for witnesses

The suspect is described as:

  • White male
  • About 5ft 8ins tall
  • Late 30s to early 40s
  • Stocky build
  • Crew cut hairstyle
  • Wearing a hooded top

PC 1 Gott said: “This took place on a busy road late in the afternoon. We would like anyone who saw what took place to contact us as soon as possible.”
