Hoax Bomb Scare Rocks Portrush Pride Street

Police scrambled after two fake bomb devices were found outside homes in Portrush’s Hopefield Avenue. The suspicious objects, wrapped in Pride flags, sparked panic when reported on Thursday, June 29.

Controlled Blasts Bring End to Terror Alert

An immediate public safety operation was launched. The Army Technical Officer conducted controlled explosions to neutralise the hoax devices. The all-clear came just before 4.30pm on Friday, June 30.

Detective Slams ‘Disgraceful’ Stunt

Detective Chief Inspector Hamilton blasted the culprits, saying: “These hoax devices caused major disruption, forcing residents to evacuate their homes. It’s disgraceful to play with people’s safety and spread fear in the community.”

Police Hunt for Witnesses and Footage

The Serious Crime Branch is now investigating. Officers urge anyone with info or footage from Hopefield Avenue to call 101, referencing incident 1829 of June 29, 2023.
