Huge Cannabis Farm Busted Near Newark
Police swooped on a property in Upton, near Newark, uncovering a massive cannabis haul. Around 530 plants worth a staggering £525,000 were seized after officers raided the house at 8.40am on 28 December.
Seven Rooms Filled with Illegal Plants
The drugs were found growing in seven different rooms, all powered by a dangerously bypassed electricity supply. The risky setup not only powers the operation but poses a serious fire hazard to the neighbourhood.
Operation Reacher Cracks Down on Grow Houses
The raid was led by Newark and Sherwood’s Operation Reacher team, joined by Drug Support and Rushcliffe teams to safely dismantle the illegal farm. All plants have been seized and are set for destruction.
Police Warn: Cannabis Farms Bring Crime and Danger
“Planned warrants like this help us rid our streets of hidden cannabis farms,” said PC Al Johnson from Nottinghamshire Police’s Operation Reacher team.
“There’s a false belief that cannabis cultivation is harmless, but it’s linked to organised crime and often violent offences. These criminal gangs exploit vulnerable people to run these risky operations.”
“The illegally bypassed electrics are a major fire risk, endangering nearby homes. Cannabis grows like this bring nothing but trouble.”
“Our team is committed to cracking down on these farms and protecting communities.”
