Police Officer Stabbed in Shocking Late-Night Attack in Eastbourne
A police officer was seriously stabbed in a brutal assault during the early hours on Terminus Road, Eastbourne. The incident has left the community reeling.
Quick-Thinking Cops Swiftly Arrest Suspect
Police rushed to the scene just after 1am on Monday, September 14, where the officer was found injured with a serious stab wound to his leg.
He was rushed to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for urgent treatment.
Thanks to quick reflexes and training, the officer managed to move away from danger and administer first aid to himself.
Two junior officers—each with less than two years on the force—then tackled and detained the attacker on the spot.
Man Arrested Over Attempted Murder
A 42-year-old Eastbourne man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, wounding with intent, and assaulting an emergency worker. He remains in custody.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detectives want to speak to several people caught on CCTV near Terminus Road just before the attack. Some may have had contact with the suspect.

“It is thanks to comprehensive training and the fast-thinking of those at the scene that I am not reporting something far more serious today.
“The injured officer was able to move away and self-administer medical intervention whilst his two junior colleagues – both just 15 months into their policing careers – apprehended the suspect.
The actions of all three officers, as well as colleagues who swiftly came to their aid, are to be commended.”
