Kent Police Team Ditches Secret Santa for Vulnerable Kids

A Kent police unit tasked with hunting online paedophiles has swapped office gift-giving for a heartfelt Christmas mission. Instead of buying presents for each other, the officers and staff decided to brighten the festive season for vulnerable children.

Gifts for Care Kids, Not Colleagues

The Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) teamed up with Diagrama, a fostering and adoption agency. They got details on the ages and genders of children in care to buy thoughtful, age-appropriate gifts. The presents will be handed to Diagrama on 18 December 2019 for distribution.

Detective Inspector: ‘Meaningful Festive Spirit’

“The team have found a way to make this year’s office festivities meaningful,” said Detective Inspector Heather Thompson. “The dedication and enthusiasm of POLIT officers is clear all year round. They face disturbing content to protect young people, so this is a perfect way to celebrate Christmas.”

It’s a rare glimpse of heart behind tough police work — spreading some festive cheer to the kids who need it most.
