Heavy Police Patrols Crack Down on Youth Crime in Tonbridge and Snodland

Police blitzed crime hotspots in Tonbridge and Snodland during a two-week crackdown targeting youth violence and antisocial behaviour. Key trouble spots like buses, train stations, and parks saw boosted police presence to curb crime and reassure the community.

Crackdown Nets Multiple Arrests

The operation, running from 7 to 17 February 2022, led to several arrests. A 19-year-old man was nabbed three times in just three days around Tonbridge train station for drug supply, knife possession, and theft offences.

Meanwhile, three teenagers, aged 14, were caught causing havoc on a bus near Snodland’s High Street. They were found carrying stolen goods from a local sports shop.

Community Engagement at the Heart of the Operation

The campaign wasn’t just about arrests. Officers teamed up with partners like British Transport Police, St Giles Trust, Salus, and the Snodland Youth and Children’s Centre to connect with young people.

Nearly 40 youngsters attended a pizza night at the Snodland Youth Centre, chatting openly with police about their concerns. Similar events at Tonbridge Youth Hub and train station, sweetened with free hot chocolate, boosted community ties.

Inspector Lizzie Jones said: “Antisocial behaviour can have a massive impact on people’s lives. Even low-level crimes won’t be tolerated — offenders must face consequences.”

She added: “While we’re committed to prosecuting those who threaten our young people, it’s just as crucial to support children who may be victims of violence or antisocial behaviour. We want them to know help is here.”

Visible Patrols Across Town Centres

Snodland High Street and local parks in both towns enjoyed a stepped-up police presence throughout the operation. The aim? To create safer spaces where children and young adults can feel secure and supported.
