Community to Honour Tragic Death of Young Football Star Fabian Henry
Nine Night Remembrance Set for July 19
A special Nine Night remembrance celebration will take place on Saturday, July 19, to honour the life of 12-year-old Fabian Henry. The bright young footballer lost his life in a devastating flat fire on Orchard Gardens earlier this month.
The event kicks off at 3pm and runs late at The House, SE13 7LE. It’s open to everyone who wants to celebrate Fabian’s life, support his grieving family, and share heartfelt memories. Attendees are asked to bring a dish or bottle. Donations on the night will help cover funeral expenses and aid the family.
Fabian: A Talented Footballer with Big Dreams
Fabian wasn’t just any kid—he was a star on the football pitch and a delight at school. Teachers describe him as a natural leader and friend to all.
“He was always the captain—always up for a challenge. Loved telling me how many goals he’d scored. He was a pleasure to teach. I wish all kids were like him,” a teacher recalled.
His family dreamed of him becoming a doctor. Fabian brought light and joy to everyone around him, his loss leaving a huge hole in the community.
Fire Investigation Ongoing
The London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police are continuing their joint probe into the cause of the fatal fire. While the investigation remains open, officials say they understand the heartbreak impacting the local area.
“Our thoughts are with everyone affected. We will continue working closely to determine what sparked this tragedy,” a spokesperson said.
