Tumble Dryer Blaze Rips Through Marden Home

A fire tore through a house in Marden, Tonbridge, after a tumble dryer sparked an accidental blaze. Seven fire engines and a height vehicle rushed to Campion Way as flames spread up to the roof.

Firefighters Battle Roof-Engulfing Flames

Brave crews in breathing gear tackled the inferno using hose reel jets, main jets, and fog spikes. Two residents were treated by SECAmb paramedics for suspected smoke inhalation. Sadly, a family cat died in the fire.

Safety Warning After Fiery Incident

The Kent Fire and Rescue Service’s Volunteer Response Team supported those affected. Firefighters urge everyone to check their tumble dryers carefully:

  • Clean lint filters regularly to prevent dangerous fluff build-up
  • Avoid running tumble dryers overnight or when no one is home
  • Ensure appliances are well maintained and safe to use
