Smoking Tumble Dryer Sparks Fire Scare on Isle of Wight!
Firefighters from Shanklin raced to Fisherman Cottage on the Shanklin Esplanade just after 10:20am Tuesday after reports of a smoking tumble dryer.
Swift Firecrews Tackle Dryer Blaze
Two brave firefighters donned breathing apparatus and rushed inside to haul the smoky dryer out into the fresh air. They then used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke from the home.
A water extinguisher was also deployed to put out smouldering clothes linked to the dryer.
Cause Under Investigation
Initial reports suggest towels left to dry overnight spontaneously combusted, sparking the near disaster. Thanks to the fire crew’s rapid response, damage was kept to a bare minimum.
