Early Morning Arrest in City Centre
Nottingham police swooped in the early hours of Monday, 18 April, after reports of a stolen electric scooter. Officers tracked down a suspect in St Peters Square at around 2.45am, where they spotted what looked like a firearm tucked into a boy’s waistband.
Imitation BB Gun Found on 15-Year-Old
Closer inspection revealed the weapon was actually a BB gun, not a real firearm. The 15-year-old lad was promptly arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place and remains in custody as police dig deeper into the incident.
Police Warn Against Carrying Weapons, Even Fakes
“This should serve as a warning to people that carrying weapons – including imitation weapons – is taken extremely seriously,” said Sergeant Stephanie Clough of Nottinghamshire Police.
“Our officers reacted swiftly to the scooter theft report and quickly arrested the boy after spotting the fake gun. We urge anyone who suspects someone is carrying a weapon to call 101 or speak to an officer patrolling the streets.”
