Woman Arrested for Attempted Baby Snatch on Blackpool Prom

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of child abduction and assaulting police after a shocking attempt to snatch a baby from a pram on Blackpool promenade.
The terrifying incident happened around 11:30am on Saturday, 10 May, near the Coral Island Amusement Centre on Central Drive – a busy tourist hotspot by the beach.
Public and Parent Spring into Action
The baby’s parent was pushing the pram when a stranger suddenly tried to grab the child. Quick-thinking members of the public and the parent jumped in to stop the abduction. Thankfully, the baby was left unharmed.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson confirmed:
“A woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of child abduction and assault on police.”
Police Call for Calm Amid Social Media Buzz
Blackpool Police Chief Inspector John Jennings-Wharton issued a reassuring statement:
“We understand this incident is very concerning. We are in the early stages of our investigation and working to establish all the facts.”
“We’ve seen some speculation spreading on social media. Please do not speculate online. If you have any footage or information, report it through official channels.”
Witnesses Urged to Come Forward
