Thousands of homes in Newport and Ryde have been plunged into a water blackout tonight. Southern Water cut off supplies in the PO30 and PO33 postcodes to fix an emergency burst main, warning residents just two hours before the outage began.

The New Blue Meadows Estate and hundreds of other properties on Staples Road are now without water. Shockingly, no bottled water provisions have been put in place for affected residents, leaving many stranded without a drop.

Emergency Repairs Also Underway at Stag Lane and Dodnor Lane

Southern Water crews are battling multiple bursts across the region. Earlier today, a major main burst at Stag Lane, and work continues at Dodnor Lane where a large water pipe has also failed — affecting hundreds more homes.

Southern Water Issues Apology, Warns of Possible Water Discolouration

The company apologised for the disruption and thanked customers for their patience. Once water service is restored, households may see discoloured water that should clear up after a few hours.
