Two Liverpool men were swooped on by cops after officers uncovered a staggering £500,000 hidden in a van at the Channel Tunnel.

Half a Million Stashed in Secret Van Compartment

The white Mercedes Sprinter was pulled over just before 1pm on Friday, 21 July. Inside, officers found wads of cash hidden away – a mix of euros and pounds sterling totalling around £500,000.

Money Laundering Suspected, Men Released Pending Inquiries

The two men, aged 29 and 39, were promptly arrested on suspicion of money laundering. Both have since been released from custody as officers carry out further investigations.

Detective Inspector Annie Smith of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: “This is a significant seizure of cash that demonstrates our determination and commitment to ensure crime does not pay. We are actively investigating the circumstances of this discovery while continuing to disrupt the ability of organised groups to profit from crime.”
