Lead Thieves Snared After Midnight Roof Raid in Canterbury

Two suspected lead thieves were caught red-handed after police found them hiding in a garden in Canterbury. Officers were called at 4.51am on Wednesday 10 April 2019 following reports of lead being ripped off a building rooftop on King Street.

Police Chase Ends in Garden Hideout

As cops arrived, they spotted two men making a run for it. Nearby, officers recovered a stash of lead believed to be stolen. The search quickly zeroed in on a garden in Mill Lane where one man was found crouching in the bushes.

Shortly after, a second suspect was discovered hiding inside a garden shed.

Two Young Men Arrested Over Theft

The culprits, a 21-year-old and a 20-year-old both from Canterbury, were arrested on suspicion of theft. They have since been released under investigation as police continue their enquiries.
