Tragic Death After Fiery Blaze in South Norwood Home
A woman has died following a devastating fire in a South Norwood maisonette on Monday afternoon.
Fire Erupts on Selhurst Road
Emergency services rushed to Selhurst Road just before 3:30pm after flames broke out inside a ground-floor maisonette of a semi-detached house.
Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Woodside, Croydon, and Norbury fire stations battled the blaze.
Small Fire Causes Big Loss
The London Fire Brigade confirmed only a small part of the front room was damaged by the fire, but tragically, the woman succumbed to her injuries after being treated at the scene and rushed to hospital.
The fire was under control by 5:01pm, but the cause remains under investigation.
Official Reaction and Investigation Underway
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who tragically lost her life. The incident serves as a poignant reminder of how devastating fire can be, even in relatively small outbreaks,” said a London Fire Brigade spokesperson.
Metropolitan Police and fire investigators are working jointly to uncover the exact circumstances behind the fatal blaze.
