Tragedy strikes as woman dies mid-flight on easyJet Tenerife to Liverpool journey

Emergency Landing After Mid-Air Cardiac Arrest

A 67-year-old woman tragically died after suffering a cardiac arrest on board easyJet flight EZY3366 from Tenerife to Liverpool on March 25. Despite heroic efforts by fellow passengers, including a nurse and a physiotherapist, the woman could not be saved. The crew made an emergency landing at Santiago–Rosalía de Castro Airport in northern Spain in a desperate bid to get her medical help.

Passengers performed CPR for a staggering 50 minutes, using oxygen tanks and a defibrillator brought by cabin staff. One passenger who helped said, “I spoke to her husband afterwards and just said I’m so sorry. We tried everything to keep her alive. We tried our best but she died onboard the plane.”

Emergency Services Respond on the Ground

Upon landing, police, paramedics, and the CID team boarded the plane. Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. All other passengers were safely disembarked.

easyJet Issues Statement and Offers Support

An easyJet spokesperson expressed condolences and praised the quick actions of passengers and crew. They said: “Flight EZY3366 was diverted to Santiago–Rosalía de Castro where paramedics met the plane due to a customer requiring urgent medical attention.”

The airline assured that passenger safety is their top priority and confirmed ongoing support for the woman’s family during this heartbreaking time.
