Black Boxes From Air India Crash Recovered and Data Extracted

Black Boxes Found Amid Wreckage and College Rooftop

Indian officials have confirmed a breakthrough in the Air India Flight AI171 probe. Both black boxes—Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR)—were successfully retrieved from the wreckage of the June 12 crash near Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

One black box was surprisingly found on the roof of a nearby college hostel where the Airbus A321 slammed down. The second was pulled from the main fuselage wreckage.

Despite fears the devices were too damaged, technicians safely extracted the memory units at the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) lab in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Data Analysis Starts as Questions Mount

The Indian government revealed that black box data is now being analysed to pin down what caused the disaster. The statement said:

“Analysis of CVR and FDR data is underway. These efforts aim to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the accident and identify contributing factors to enhance aviation safety.”

Flight AI171 carried 178 passengers and crew. At least 39 died, including multiple British citizens. Survivors recounted harrowing moments just before impact.

Crash Shakes India – Families Demand Answers

The June 12 crash ranks among India’s worst air disasters in years. Investigators are exploring weather conditions, possible mechanical faults, and human error as causes.

Victims’ families are pressing for full transparency from Air India and regulators amid rising demand for accountability.

What’s Next in the Investigation?

Experts will now sync cockpit audio with flight data to map the plane’s final moments. A preliminary AAIB report is expected within weeks, with a full report due later this year.
