Coastguards and Lifeboat Launch Major Search in Folkestone

Man’s Welfare Sparks Full-Scale Search

Two Coastguard Search and Rescue teams from Dover and Folkestone were scrambled on Sunday after Kent Police received a worrying report about a man’s welfare. The alert came from a relative concerned for his safety at Sunny Sands, Folkestone.

Shoreline and Pier Scoured

Police quickly called in the coastguards to comb the rocky shoreline and bay. Meanwhile, the Dover all-weather lifeboat, returning from training, joined in to search the pier, the Leas, and surrounding areas. The combined effort lasted around two hours.

Search Called Off as Man Found Safe

Thankfully, the man was located safe and well at home, leading police to call off the search shortly after 10am. Kent Police have been approached for comment on the incident.
