Wightlink Ryde Slide Returns Bigger, Better, and Wetter!

The legendary Wightlink Ryde Slide is back on Union Street, Ryde, this Sunday, 22nd July. This year promises to be bigger, better, and wetter than ever before! Hundreds will take the plunge down the giant waterslide, while thousands more soak up the thrilling atmosphere. All proceeds go to five local charities, making a splash for a good cause.

Sliding for Pride and Charity

In a special twist, the Ryde Slide will donate an entire hour’s ticket sales to IW Pride, which hosts the UK Pride event in Ryde a day earlier on 21st July. The annual event, now in its fourth year, is hugely popular with tickets almost sold out.

Perfect Position for Maximum Speed

“Having learnt from previous years, we now have the slide perfectly positioned to deliver speed and excitement. With this lovely Isle of Wight weather lately, sliding down Union Street on a giant waterslide is the perfect way to cool off,” said Councillor Wayne Whittle, who originally brought the slide to the Island. “I’ll be first in the queue!”

Special Ferry Deal for Mainland Visitors

Wightlink, the headline sponsor, offers a cracking deal for mainland visitors. Book before 14th July and get a foot passenger day return from Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier on 21st or 22nd July for just £15 per adult.

Thanks to Sponsors and Safety Teams

Success wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of the Isle of Wight Rescue Team and HSS Hire, who supply safety barriers. Councillor Whittle added, “We wouldn’t be celebrating our fourth year without our brilliant sponsors.”

Big shout-outs go to Wightlink, Isle of Wight Distillery, Rosemary Vineyard, Goddards Brewery, Solent, and many more. Their support helped the event grow and raise significant funds for local charities.

Tickets are still up for grabs at £12 each, but they’re selling fast. Don’t miss your chance to slide into summer! Head online now to snap yours up.
