King’s Cross Panic: Man Arrested After Rush Hour Evacuation
Emergency Sparks Chaos at London’s Busy Tube Station
A security scare sent shockwaves through King’s Cross St Pancras Underground Station on Monday evening. Just after 6pm, amid the rush hour crush, passengers were ordered to evacuate immediately due to a reported emergency.
Commuters were left shaken as British Transport Police (BTP) swooped in following reports of a suspicious item found inside the station. Transport for London (TfL) confirmed the evacuation was triggered by a “security alert,” while rail operator LNER reassured that mainline rail services remained unaffected.
Man Arrested on Suspicion of Carrying Dangerous Weapon
Emergency crews arrived quickly, sealing off the station and searching the premises. A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a potentially dangerous weapon, violating railway bye-law two. Details on the suspicious item remain under wraps.
A BTP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to King’s Cross Station just before 6pm on 11 March following reports of a suspicious item. A man was arrested on suspicion of breaching bye-law 2 related to potentially dangerous items. The investigation is ongoing.”
Station Reopened After 40-Minute Closure
The station was swiftly cleared by 6.23pm, and normal service resumed by 6.47pm. Despite the brief disruption, commuters breathed a sigh of relief as the tube station reopened its doors.
Police continue to investigate the incident as Londoners hope for answers to what sparked the rush hour alarm.
