Planned A2 Closures: Motorists Advised to Plan Ahead

A series of closures are scheduled for the A2 this week as part of planned maintenance aimed at enhancing road safety and infrastructure. These closures will impact motorists travelling along the crucial Dover-to-London route, urging drivers to plan alternative routes and allow for extra travel time.

The A2 serves as a vital link, spanning nearly 72 miles from Borough in London to the Dover Docks. As such, any closures or disruptions along this route can have significant implications for commuters and travellers alike.

The closures, which include carriageway closures and slip road closures, will take place during nighttime hours to minimize disruptions during peak travel times. Motorists are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to diversion routes and signage to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

Here is the schedule of closures for the week:

  • Monday to Friday (March 11-15): Various carriageway closures between specific sections of the A2, including Brenley Corner to Roman Road and Patrixbourne to Brenley Corner, from 20:00 to 06:00.
  • Friday (March 15): Additional slip road closure on the westbound Canterbury Road Exit Slip Road from 20:00 to 06:00.
  • Saturday (March 16): Slip road closure on the eastbound Ebbsfleet Exit Slip Road from 20:00 to 06:00.

While these closures are necessary for essential maintenance works, they may cause potential delays and diversions for motorists. National Highways, responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, advises drivers to plan their routes accordingly and remain patient during these crucial works.

It is essential for drivers to stay informed about the closures and any updates through official channels and traffic advisories to minimize disruptions to their journeys.

For motorists travelling along the A2 this week, proactive planning and awareness of the scheduled closures are key to ensuring a safe and efficient journey.
