Cop Injured in Shocking Bottle Attack Near Buckingham Palace
A police officer was left injured after being hit in the face with a bottle during a violent incident just yards from Buckingham Palace.
Man Waves Bottle Aggressively on Palace Road
The drama unfolded around 6pm on Tuesday, March 18, when officers from British Transport Police (BTP) spotted a man in his 30s acting aggressively, waving an empty alcohol bottle near the palace.
Officers tried to calm the situation and asked the man to drop the bottle. Instead, he struck one officer in the arm, leaving a bloody wound, before hitting another officer square in the face.
Suspect Arrested on Assault Charges
The man was promptly arrested at the scene. He’s now held on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and assaulting emergency workers. Enquiries are ongoing as he remains in police custody.
Police Launch Appeal for Witnesses
A BTP spokesperson said:
“Officers engaged with the man to try and get him to drop the bottle. The man then raised the bottle and hit one officer in the arm, causing a wound, and another officer suffered a wound to the side of their face.”
