Probe launched after woman dies in Gosport property fire
Hampshire fire and rescue have sent six fire engines to a house fire in Gosport. They are advising If you’re nearby, that you to keep doors and windows shut whilst they deal with this incident. Fire crews from Gosport,Fareham, Portchester and Cosham have been mobilsed the blaze that has engulfed the property and left it totally gutted by fire. Crews were called just after 12.02pm on Monday to Nyria Way in the town. Thirty firefighters and officers are dealing with the blaze. Two hose reels and three teams of two fire crews in breathing appurtus are tackling the fire that has spread to other parts of the property leaving it totally engulfed. The fire has also spread to a neighbouring property. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance has also landed nearby. A Hart team from the South Central ambulance service have also been sent to the incident. Hampshire police have sadly confirmed the 52-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire. A joint investigation has been launched between fire investigators and Hampshire police. The woman’s next of kin have been informed and officers are working with the family. A 52 year-old woman has died following a bungalow fire in Gosport. Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to an address in Nyria Way at 12:01 this afternoon (March 25). The woman was removed from the property by firefighters, who administered Immediate Emergency Care and attempted resuscitation using a defibrillator. She was later pronounced dead at the scene by HEMS air ambulance personnel. Firefighters used six sets of breathing apparatus, three hose reels and two jets to bring the fire under control, which had spread to a neighbouring property. The stop message was received at 14:28. A dog also died at the incident. An investigation will now be undertaken in conjunction with Hampshire Constabulary to establish the cause.
