Brave Aussie Girl Survives Shocking Leicester Square Stabbing
An 11-year-old Australian tourist has defied the odds after being stabbed eight times in Leicester Square. Thanks to speedy medical care, she recovered in time to catch her dream gig – a Taylor Swift concert.
Attack Shatters Dream Holiday
The young fan was visiting London with her mother from New South Wales when terror struck. On August 12, just after leaving the Lego store, a man grabbed her in a headlock and stabbed her repeatedly in front of her 34-year-old mum.
Members of the public jumped to her rescue, restraining the attacker until police arrived. The girl was rushed to hospital with serious wounds to her face, shoulder, wrist, and neck.
From Trauma to Triumph
Speaking to 7News Australia, the mother revealed how their “dream” holiday turned into a nightmare. But after a week of care and support from Aussie consular officials and hospital staff, the young star attended the Taylor Swift concert – before flying home to Australia on Sunday.
“It was bad to meet them under those circumstances, but they are some people I will remember forever,” the brave girl said about the medics.
Her mum gushed, “She’s incredible, ready to get back to normal. She’s the most optimistic kid you could meet, super bouncy.”
Man Charged, Hero Security Guard Honoured
Ioan Pintaru, 32, a Romanian man with no fixed address, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a blade. He is due in court at the Old Bailey on September 10.
A security guard who helped disarm Pintaru was recently honoured for his bravery at a ceremony at the Pakistan High Commission in London.
Police confirm the attack is not terror-related and the victim and suspect were strangers.
This horrific incident has shocked many, but the young girl’s determination to carry on her dream trip has inspired all who know her.
