Man Charged After Armed Police Shoot Out at Wheatley Shop

James Ridgley, from St Mary’s Road, faced Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday. He’s charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Ridgley was remanded in custody and will appear again on 13 December.

Gun Scare Sparks Armed Police Response

The charge stems from an incident on Monday 7 November. Armed officers rushed to a Rockingham Road shop in Wheatley after reports of a man wielding a gun inside.

Police Fire Weapon, Suspect Injured and Hospitalised

During the police response, a firearm was discharged. Ridgley was injured and needed hospital treatment but was released the same day. He was then arrested and taken into police custody.
