The children’s own mother, who not only facilitated but took part in their abuse, has been sentenced alongside her partner. Mr Justice David Keane applauded the incredible strength of the young victims for speaking out and enduring unimaginable suffering at the hands of those meant to protect them.
Home turned horror show for two vulnerable kids
The home should be a safe haven for children, a place to grow and thrive. But for these two youngsters with developmental delays, it became a place of terror. They faced sexual assault, false imprisonment, and reckless endangerment inflicted by the adults supposed to keep them safe. The trauma is expected to haunt them for years.
Harsh jail terms handed down for vile crimes
- The man was locked up for 19 years for rape, serving concurrent sentences of eight years for sexual assault and six years for false imprisonment.
- The mother received a 14-year sentence for the rape of her daughter as part of a joint enterprise, along with eight years for sexual exploitation, five years each for sexual assault and reckless endangerment, and four years for false imprisonment — all running concurrently.
Both are now registered sex offenders and face two years of supervision once released. Shockingly, neither showed remorse or any intention to seek rehabilitation despite the horrific nature of their crimes.
