Crafty Conwoman Jailed for Targeting Pub and Restaurant Patrons
Michelle Dillon Nabbed After Posing as Friendly Stranger
Michelle Dillon, 52, was handed a 48-week prison sentence after being found guilty of theft and fraud by false representation. The cunning criminal targeted her victims by striking up conversations with them in pubs and restaurants, only to rob them once they let their guard down.
Twisted Tactics: From Innocent Chat to Quick Theft
On 4 December, Dillon approached a woman dining alone, pretending to ask about the food. When the victim left the restaurant, she realised her purse had vanished from her handbag.
The very next day, Dillon made a move on another woman at a pub in Thirsk. After trying to nick her purse, she managed to swipe the woman’s Filofax instead.
Quick-Thinking Son-in-Law Stops the Swipe
The victim’s son-in-law sprang into action once he realised what was happening. He detained Dillon and alerted the police.
Officers searched Dillon’s bag and uncovered the stolen Filofax, items pilfered from the previous day’s victim in York, and a stash of bank cards, store cards, and IDs all under different names.
