Fire Breaks Out on Flat Roof in London Block
Flames Rip Through Communal Staircase Roof
A fire damaged part of the flat roof above a communal staircase in a London building housing flats and a shop. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus swiftly led two adults and a child to safety via an internal staircase.
Residents Escape Before Firefighters Arrive
Before the fire brigade arrived, around 13 people evacuated the building and an adjacent property. The London Ambulance Service treated a woman on site for smoke inhalation.
Six Emergency Calls and Multiple Fire Stations Respond
The Brigade’s 999 control received six calls about the blaze. The fire broke out at 11:51 a.m. and was fully extinguished by 12:49 p.m. Fire crews from Tottenham, Stoke Newington, Walthamstow, Islington, and Southgate rushed to the scene.
Cause Linked to Hot Works Sparks
The fire is believed to have started during “hot works” – any job involving heat, sparks, or flames capable of igniting a blaze.
