Police Urge Other Victims to Speak Up

“It takes a great deal of courage for anyone who has been the victim of rape or sexual assault to come forward and report the matter to Police,” said DC Marie Harding from the Operation Amberstone team.

“I want to commend the bravery of this woman for telling officers what happened and supporting this investigation through to court. She hopes her courage encourages others to step forward, even if time has passed. There can still be a chance to secure a conviction.”

“Our specialist officers will investigate thoroughly and seek justice wherever possible. The man responsible can no longer harm anyone while serving his prison sentence.”

“We take sexual offence allegations incredibly seriously. We provide full support for victims and work closely with specialist agencies. Anyone affected by these crimes should call 101 to speak confidentially to a trained officer or reach out to independent support groups.”
