Driver Busted with £100K Drug Haul on M40
Police Stop McLean on M40 Near Warwick
On Friday, February 3, officers pulled over Christopher McLean on the M40 near Warwick. They suspected his vehicle had false number plates. During the stop, they spotted two open bin bags on the back seat that looked suspicious.
Massive Drug Find Uncovered
A search revealed 1.5kg of cannabis resin, 5.9kg of amphetamine, and 3.3kg more cannabis inside the bags. The car was confirmed to be sporting false plates, and McLean was disqualified from driving.
Drug Cache and Weapons Found at Liverpool Home
McLean, from Ashbourne Road, Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. Police later raided his Liverpool home, uncovering more controlled drugs, a machete, and a telescopic baton. Forensic tests confirmed the white powder was amphetamine.
Drugs Worth £100,000, Jail Sentence Follows
The combined haul had a wholesale value of up to £36,000 and a street value around £100,000. McLean refused to comment when interviewed. He was charged with two counts of possessing cannabis with intent to supply, possessing amphetamine with intent to supply, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.
Remanded in custody, McLean appeared at Warwick Crown Court on April 14. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 51 months behind bars.
