Met Police Strike Hard: Knives, Drugs & Gun Seized in Weekend Crackdown

Detectives from the Met’s new Violent Crime Taskforce took to London’s streets this weekend, smashing down crime with raids and stop-and-searches. Over just two days, they seized knives, drugs, and even a revolver handgun.

7 Arrests and Major Seizures in North London

Inspector Peter Moxham revealed the Taskforce ran more than 40 stop-and-searches and raided eight properties across north London on Saturday and Sunday (14-15 April). Seven suspects were arrested, while a range of offensive weapons and Class A drugs were taken off the streets.

“Many locals told us they welcome this crackdown and want to see more of it,” said Inspector Moxham. “Just because you can’t see us doesn’t mean we’re not around — we often patrol undercover and in plain clothes.”

New Taskforce Dedicated to Violent Crime

The Violent Crime Taskforce is made up of handpicked, full-time officers laser-focused on violent and weapon-enabled crime. They use a mix of covert and overt tactics to catch street-level offenders and their suppliers.

Backed by borough teams, Trident, Area Crime Command, and specialist units, this taskforce aims to deliver a sustained, tough response — tackling serious crime both above and below ground.

Visible Patrols to Keep London Safe

The force is ramping up uniformed patrols to send a clear message: London’s streets will not be an easy place for criminals. Expect to see police out in force, hunting down offenders and ensuring safer communities.
