A South Yorkshire Police Constable was arrested on September 13 following an internal probe into claims he had an inappropriate relationship with a female victim of crime. The officer, part of a response team, has been suspended and bailed until October 20.

Superintendent Delphine Waring, Head of Professional Standards, said: “We understand how concerning a report like this must be to our communities, especially given ongoing national efforts to overhaul toxic police cultures and stamp out abuse.”
She confirmed that the case was flagged by alert colleagues, triggering an immediate internal misconduct investigation alongside a criminal probe. “We are committed to transparency and want the public to know we treat such incidents with the utmost seriousness and speed,” Waring added.
