Man Guilty of Murdering Wife Amidst Massive Debts
Robert “James” Hammond has been found guilty of murdering his wife Sian Hammond at their home in Primes Corner, Histon, near Cambridge on 29 October last year.
Money Troubles and Lies Uncovered
The court revealed Hammond was drowning in debts over £300,000. He spent months lying and dodging payments to HMRC and a financial firm. Despite having a life insurance policy worth £450,000, Hammond falsely assured creditors he could settle his debts after his wife’s death.
Faked Innocence Falls Apart
Hammond, 47, called police at 2 am the day after Sian, 46, was killed, claiming he found her unresponsive. He always denied harming her.
Justice Served at Cambridge Crown Court
But today, 17 July, a jury at Cambridge Crown Court delivered a unanimous guilty verdict for murder. Hammond faces sentencing on 23 July.
