Hiding in the Heights: Mansfield Man Nabbed in Massive Cannabis Raid
Ardi Salikaj was caught red-handed hiding among the foliage in a drug den packed with over 150 cannabis plants. Police stormed the property on Beech Tree Avenue, Mansfield Woodhouse, after intelligence tipped them off about a thriving drug operation inside.
Police Discover Massive Cannabis Farm Spread Across Four Rooms
Officers found dozens of plants sprawled across multiple rooms. The living room contained the first batch, with more than 50 plants flourishing in two upstairs bedrooms. But the real shock came in the loft—where around 80 plants grew, and Salikaj himself was found hiding.
An inspection revealed the electricity meter had been dangerously tampered with to power the grow operation, risking serious fire hazards.
Mansfield Man Sentenced to Jail for Cannabis Production
Salikaj, 30, from Beech Tree Avenue, admitted producing cannabis in court. On Friday 17 March, Nottingham Crown Court sentenced him to eight months behind bars.
PC Luke Bettridge of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Proactive warrants like this one are vital to tackling drug crimes in our communities. We don’t want drug operations like this anywhere near our neighbourhoods.”
“Cannabis production isn’t victimless. It brings trouble, crime links, and poses serious fire risks. We were happy to shut this grow down and see Salikaj punished for his role.”
