Busy Cocaine Dealer Busted in Kent Sting
On 23 June 2023, Kent Police’s Proactive Targeting Team spotted Andrew Saunders loitering by his moped on Haywood Avenue. The moment Saunders noticed the patrol, he made a run for it – only to trip and fall, leading to his quick arrest.
Drugs and Damning Evidence Found
Police recovered a solid block of cocaine dumped beside the moped, along with two mobile phones and ten more bags of the Class A drug. One phone revealed text messages about drug supply, linking Saunders, from Camelia Road, Minster-on-Sea, to a cocaine-dealing ring that’s been running since August 2022.
Priceless Bust Nets Prison Time
The seized cocaine was valued between £3,580 and £6,860 on the streets. Saunders was charged with being involved in the supply of Class A drugs, pleaded guilty at maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Crown Court, and on 3 November, the 27-year-old was slammed with a 2½-year jail sentence.
Police Strike Warning to Would-Be Dealers
“Saunders was undoubtedly a very busy dealer who was supplying drugs to local users and making a considerable profit,” said Detective Sergeant Jay Robinson.
“These criminals prey on the most vulnerable and bring nothing but misery to communities, suffering from harms linked to drug addiction. Saunders is now starting a prison sentence. Let this be a warning to anyone thinking of following in his footsteps.”
