Shocking cruelty has struck a Hampshire sports field where several hedgehogs were found brutally killed. Concerned locals alerted authorities after discovering the dead creatures, sparking outrage across the community.
Hedgehogs Suffer Brutal Attack
It’s clear these poor hedgehogs endured a painful and inhumane fate. The small creatures, already struggling as their numbers plummet, were apparently beaten and kicked on the sports field.
Rescue Centre Condemns the Horrific Act
The Hampshire Hedgehog Rescue Centre blasted the attackers: “It is utterly tragic and criminal for anyone to treat any animal in such an appalling manner, but to defenceless hedgehogs—whose numbers have rapidly declined and we are fighting to help—is even worse.”
They added, “Now, just as hedgehogs are emerging from hibernation and are desperate to find food and water, this cruelty is utterly horrifying. And if it was done for pleasure, it’s absolutely disgusting!”
Local Sports Facility Pleads for Respect
Hiltingbury Sports commented on the incident: “Sadly, we’ve had reports of these lovely hedgehogs being beaten and kicked on our field, causing distress to locals who found the dead animals.”
Their groundsmen have cleaned up, but the community is left reeling. “Please treat the wildlife with respect—we all share this woodland area together.”
