Couple Found Guilty Over Brutal Death of 15-Month-Old Jacob Lennon

After a harrowing trial at the Old Bailey, Jake Drummond, 33, from Roehampton, was convicted of gross bodily harm with intent and the murder of baby Jacob Lennon, just 15 months old. Jacob’s mother, Louise Lennon, 32, from Battersea, was found guilty of child neglect and causing or allowing her son’s death.

Sentencing Set for April 24

The pair will be sentenced together on Monday, 24 April.

Detective’s Grim Summary of Baby’s Suffering

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley said: “No one who has listened to the catalogue of injuries inflicted on Jacob Lennon can be anything but horrified. It is hard to comprehend how such a young and vulnerable baby could have been so abused. Drummond and Lennon tried to cover up their guilt by blaming accidents or pretending ignorance about how he was hurt. But the jury saw through their lies and held them both accountable for Jacob’s death.”

“This case was deeply distressing. I want to thank my team and everyone who helped secure justice. We faced harrowing evidence but remained determined to bring those responsible to account.”

Shocking Details from Police and Court

  • Police were called at 6:06am on 27 August 2019 after reports of a child in cardiac arrest at a home in SW15.
  • Emergency services rushed baby Jacob to a west London hospital, but he was pronounced dead at 7:22am.
  • A post-mortem revealed traumatic brain injuries, some dating back days or weeks.
  • The fatal brain injury occurred 3-5 hours before Jacob died.
  • Jacob’s body showed 20 fresh injuries on his head, face, and neck; 11 on his arms; seven on his legs; and seven on his body.
  • He also suffered severe genital injuries. Louise Lennon claimed Jacob’s father blamed a toy plastic knife used by another child.
  • Evidence showed Jacob endured weeks of horrific abuse and violent assaults.

Couple’s Lies Unravel Under Scrutiny

When police arrived, Drummond claimed he found Jacob unresponsive and performed CPR. Louise Lennon said Jacob had recently fallen in a playground, hitting his head—but insisted it caused no problems.

Both told conflicting stories during interviews. Drummond said they woke after hearing a loud bang and a squeal, then found Jacob face down, unresponsive. He fabricated explanations for the injuries.

The pair’s attempts to dodge responsibility failed. The Met’s Specialist Crime Command led a thorough investigation that exposed their lies and secured their convictions.
