Town Centre Cop Snaps Up Serial Perfume Thief Seconds After Raid!
Perfume Heist Foiled on Calverley Road
A quick-thinking town centre constable arrested Daniel Findra just moments after he swiped hundreds of pounds’ worth of perfumes from Boots the Chemist. The 36-year-old, with no fixed address, was caught red-handed leaving the store shortly after 9am on 29 September 2022.
High Alert After String of Thefts
Tunbridge Wells police had their eyes peeled following a spree of thefts targeting a department store, music shop, and even the Amelia Scott library. Patrols—both plainclothes and uniformed—were on high alert. Searches on Findra recovered multiple bottles and boxes of stolen fragrances.
Thief Back in Court: Community Order and Compensation
Findra faced Medway Magistrates’ Court the very next day, pleading guilty to four counts of theft. He was slapped with 100 hours of community work and ordered to cough up nearly £800 in compensation.
Separate Break-In Suspect Arrested
In an unrelated bust, officers nabbed a 43-year-old man from Tunbridge Wells linked to two Grove Hill Road restaurant break-ins last month, involving stolen cash and a tablet. Plainclothes officers also suspect him in the theft of a bicycle and washing machine. He was released pending further inquiries.
Police Crackdown on Shoplifting Continues
Sergeant Ed Kavanagh of the Tunbridge Wells Community Policing Team said: “Along with plain clothes officers who blend in with the crowds, we use visible targeted patrols to gain valuable intelligence and identify potential offenders. Shoplifting is not a victimless crime and it is certainly not something we are willing to tolerate in this town. Offenders like Findra have a drastic impact on businesses, which often have little choice but to pass costs on to law-abiding customers.”
