Man Fatally Stabbed in Ilford Flat

Detectives have launched a murder probe after a 50-year-old man was stabbed to death in a residential block in Ilford.

Police rushed to Chapel Road just after 1am on Friday, October 4, following reports of a stabbing. Officers and the London Ambulance Service found the victim injured in a corridor. Despite frantic efforts, he was pronounced dead at 1:30am.

Three Men Arrested Over Murder

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command moved fast, arresting three men aged 40, 36, and 28 on suspicion of murder. The trio remain in custody at an east London police station as the investigation gathers pace.

Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers as detectives work round the clock.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Chief Superintendent Lewis Basford said: “My thoughts are first and foremost with the man’s friends and family. I understand this incident will cause concern in the local community, but I’d like to reassure you that this investigation is progressing at pace led by specialist detectives.”

He urged anyone with information to come forward: “My officers will continue to patrol the area over the next few days to offer reassurance and listen to your concerns.”

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, leading the enquiry, added: “We have already arrested three people, but our investigation continues. Even the smallest piece of information could help bring those responsible to justice.”
