Biker Killed in Shocking Collision with Cyclist in Poole
Garry Kopanycia-Reynolds, 59, from Poole, has been slapped with a hefty £2,500 fine after a tragic crash that claimed the life of a young motorcyclist. The Poole man was found guilty of riding his bike without reasonable consideration for others at Poole Magistrates’ Court on 24 November 2022.
Tragic Crash at Busy Junction
The fatal accident happened just after 7am on 21 December 2021 at the junction of 1 Road and Fernside Road. Callum Clements, 23, was riding his motorcycle towards Danecourt Road when Kopanycia-Reynolds’ bicycle turned off Ringwood Road into Fernside Road right in front of him.
The collision hurled Callum from his bike. He suffered serious injuries and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Kopanycia-Reynolds also sustained serious injuries and needed hospital treatment.
Police: Cyclist’s Negligence Led to Deadly Crash
“This is a very sad case that has seen Callum’s loved ones lose him and the cyclist involved also suffer life-changing injuries,” said Police Constable Leanne Howes from Dorset Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team.
“Our investigation proved the defendant clearly turned in front of the motorcycle, which had right of way, causing the collision.”
“This shows just how catastrophic the consequences can be when road users fail to pay proper attention.”
Costs Hit Hard
Kopanycia-Reynolds also faces £450 in court costs and a £190 victim surcharge, adding financial pain to the deadly consequences of his carelessness.
