Stalker Spies with Secret Bug in Phone Charger – Jailed for Two Years
Jonathan Franklin, 36, from Cleethorpes’ Grimsby Road, was locked up for two years on June 7 after pleading guilty to stalking. A five-year restraining order has also been slapped on him.
Hidden Spy Device Terrorised Victim
Franklin sneaked a tiny listening device into a phone charger he gave his victim between August 2021 and February 2022. He used the bug to eavesdrop on her private life before sending creepy messages revealing what he’d overheard, leaving her scared stiff.
Victim’s Home Turned Nightmare
The victim feared Franklin had bugged her entire home. Police confirmed the charger was indeed rigged with a secret spy device, confirming her worst fears.
Officer Praises Victim’s Courage
“I would like to commend the victim for her bravery throughout the investigation and court proceedings,” said PC Jak Shephard. “This was a disturbing case where a cunning stalker invaded his victim’s privacy and caused great anxiety. He made her own home feel unsafe.”
“I am relieved he is off our streets and can no longer torment her. We take stalking and harassment seriously and encourage anyone affected to come forward.”
