Chelmsford Stalker Liam Middle Threatened Victim with Sledgehammer Before Jail Sentence

Decade of Fear Ends in Violence Threat

Liam Middle, 40, from Welland Avenue, Chelmsford, terrorised his victim for over ten years. His abuse escalated at the end of 2023 when he threatened her with a sledgehammer, pushing her to fear for her life.

Relentless Harassment and Death Threats

Middle didn’t stop there. He bombarded her with more than 1,500 messages, despite repeated pleas for him to “go away” and “leave her alone.” Among these were chilling threats that he would kill her.

Arrest, Guilty Plea, and Jail

Police arrested Middle on 26 January 2024. He faced charges of making threats to kill, stalking, malicious communications, and breaching a non-molestation order.

Middle pleaded guilty and, on Tuesday 13 February, was sentenced to three years in prison. An indefinite restraining order protects the victim moving forward.
