Drug Dealer Busted in Early Morning Raid
Kent Police’s County Line and Gang Team cracked down on a class A drug dealer plying his trade in Ramsgate. Between August and November 2020, officers tracked a mobile phone used to supply crack cocaine and heroin to users across the area.
Text Messages Exposed Dealer
Investigators noticed the dealer regularly sent text messages to customers, who responded with orders. The phone was traced to Leon Wilson, 36, from Grove Road, maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone. Wilson used the phone while driving to East Kent, delivering drugs in his car.
Early Morning Arrest Uncovers Stash
On 25 November 2020 at 6am, Kent Police executed a search warrant at Wilson’s home. They arrested him and found crack cocaine wrapped in clingfilm, heroin hidden in a plastic tub, two sets of digital scales, £525 in cash, and two mobile phones.
Forensic analysis confirmed the phones were used to send texts to drug users in Thanet.
Jail Time for Wilson
Wilson was charged with supplying crack cocaine and heroin. He pled guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and was sentenced on 22 March 2021 to four years and three months behind bars.
Detective Constable Andrew Julier said: “This was a complex investigation that required numerous enquiries to track down the person holding the phone.”
“Wilson thought he could stay under the radar by traveling to Thanet, but he’s learned the hard way he can’t escape the law.”
“Other dealers should know their days of dealing won’t last. Our officers will find them – and serve them an early morning wake-up call.”
