Ex-cop busted for zooming at 110mph then fibbing about cloned plates
Speed demon PC caught red-handed
Former police officer Dylan Freedman, once with North West Command Unit, has been slammed for reckless speeding and lying about it. On 26 October 2019, Freedman’s car was clocked twice breaking the 70mph limit — once hitting an average speed of 110mph.
Cloned number plate lie exposed
Just months later, on 7 June 2020, Freedman claimed online that his number plates had been cloned since October, insisting it wasn’t him behind the wheel. But he later admitted both speeding offences after an investigation.
Sentence handed down after misconduct hearing
Freedman resigned earlier this year and appeared in court in February. He was sentenced on 28 January to six months in jail, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to complete 200 hours of community service. His driving licence was also revoked until he retakes his test.
Senior cop blasts ‘dishonest’ ex-officer
Chief Superintendent Sara Leach, overseeing policing for North West BCU, said: “Not only did PC Freedman drive in an incredibly dangerous manner but he then tried to cover up his actions. Honesty and integrity are two of our key values and PC Freedman has failed to meet the high standards that both we and the public expect of all our officers and staff.”
