Romford GP Jailed for Sexually Assaulting Patients
Manish Shah, 53, was handed two life sentences at the Old Bailey today, with a minimum of ten years to serve concurrently. The Romford doctor was convicted on 25 counts of sexual assault on Wednesday, 14 December.
Trust Betrayed: Fake Exams for Sickening Gains
Between 2009 and July 2013, Shah abused his position as a trusted GP, convincing women to undergo invasive examinations that were medically unnecessary. The court heard Shah exploited the trust of his patients, using his friendly “good doctor” persona to coerce them into these fake tests for his own sexual gratification.
None of the women requested these intimate exams, and Shah never offered chaperones, deliberately isolating his victims to carry out his sick abuse.
Police Praise Victims’ Bravery, Call for More to Speak Out
“Shah is a serial predator who has caused great harm and pain to many people,” said Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi. “I’d like to thank the victims once more for their bravery throughout this investigation.”
Detective Farooqi added: “We do not tolerate violence against women and girls in any form. This case shows that offenders will be caught and justice will be served. If you are a victim of rape or sexual assault, no matter when it happened, please report it. We will take your allegations seriously and support you throughout.”
