High-Speed Chase Ends Manchester Burglary Spree

On March 3, 2022, Greater Manchester Police’s Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit (TVIU) put a swift stop to a burglary gang’s rampage. The team stopped a stolen car carrying four men after a nail-biting pursuit through Gatley at speeds topping 100mph. Thanks to specialist dog handlers, one of the crooks was even found hiding under a sofa.

Gang Members Slapped with Jail Sentences

Fast forward to March 16, and the four men faced justice at Manchester Crown Court, where they were sentenced for their crimes:

  • Declan McClusky (20), Wythenshawe – 3 years 4 months for conspiracy to commit burglary, driving while disqualified, and no insurance.
  • Alan McCabe (21), Wythenshawe – 3 years 11 months for conspiracy to commit burglary.
  • Kade McEwan (21), Manchester – 1 year 10 months for conspiracy to commit burglary.
  • Christopher Ward (21), Wythenshawe – 2 years 8 months for conspiracy to commit burglary, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, possessing a bladed article, and cannabis possession.

Crime Spree Linked to 13 Burglaries and Luxury Car Thefts

Detectives from GMP’s Serious Organised Crime Group uncovered the gang’s links to 13 incidents involving stolen cars, including Audis and Porsches, taken from car parks, town centres, and private drives across Manchester. The stolen vehicles were often used to fuel further burglaries, terrorising local residents.

Police Warn: No Gang Is Too Tough to Catch

“This group were prolific thieves, targeting people’s homes and stealing cars straight from their drives, leaving victims stranded,” said Detective Constable Chris Bromley from GMP SOCG. “Their reckless driving showed no regard for public safety. This case proves no matter how organised a gang thinks it is, we have the skills and resources to lock them up.”
