Hotel Worker Ahmed Fahmy Found Guilty of Rape and Sexual Assault

Ahmed Fahmy was arrested within hours after police received reports of rape and sexual assault on 21 January 2024. The 45-year-old from West Heath Drive, NW11, faced a two-week trial and was found guilty at Hendon Magistrates Court on Thursday, 25 July. He was convicted of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault. Sentencing is set for 20 September at the same court.

Detective Praises Victims’ Bravery Amid Shocking Crimes

Detective Constable James Gomm, who led the probe, said, “Fahmy abused his hotel worker position to get close to victims and carry out his crimes.” He added, “I want to commend all the victim-survivors for their courage. Some offences happened years ago, but survivors felt able to come forward now. Reliving the trauma is tough, and I thank them for supporting this investigation. Their bravery has put a sexual offender behind bars and protected other women.”

Detective Gomm urged any other victims to contact the police immediately, promising they will be listened to and supported.

Horrific Details of Assaults Uncovered

On 19 January 2024, four women stayed at a hotel in Golders Green where Fahmy worked. The group split up on a night out, and three returned to the hotel in the early hours only to find their friend had the room key. Fahmy claimed he had no spare key and forced one woman to withdraw £80 so she could stay in a separate room.

The woman obeyed and got into bed fully dressed except for her shoes. She was later woken twice by Fahmy licking her foot. Each time she told him “no” and kicked him away. Fahmy initially left the room but returned to assault her again.

The fourth woman returned later, saying she lost her key. Fahmy lured her into his bedroom and raped her.

Police Called After Victim Escapes

On 21 January, police found a distressed victim separate from her friends in Regents Park. She was unable to give her hotel details but broke down and revealed the manager had raped her. Fahmy was arrested soon after on suspicion of rape.

Another woman from the group, also sexually assaulted by Fahmy, reported the abuse to police.

Link to Historic Assaults Uncovered

Detectives connected Fahmy to two other non-recent sexual assaults where he targeted women’s feet. One incident led to his arrest previously but no action was taken at that time. Victims from these cases have now come forward to support the current investigation.

All victims were provided with specialist support throughout the police probe and court process.
